Well, I wrote on my facebook, that when my family came in town, I was literally mopping under their feet….Two days previous, Riley had placement break for school. He insisted that he take the kids for the day. I protested 4 or 5 times, but he kept insisting…so I took him up on the offer! He emphasized I must do something fun for me while he was gone!!!!
….I finished my history class lessons for the substitute so I could be there at the airport for Peter’s homecoming….and then….I sewed!!!! What to do? I was tickled pink!! I used to sew all the time, but with moving, gardening, canning, canning and canning….homeschooling and cleaning our bigger house, sewing gets lost in the dust. Riley was seriously my hero!!
I decided to sew myself a skirt from some corduroy I bought last year. I would love to post a picture, but since my camera broke, I will just share the link. Its the skirt like two blogs down from Funky Frum, at Pretty/Modest.
I just copied the skirt, but made it from tan corduroy, longer, and made it so the bow ties in back rather than in front. Its pretty darling!!!
The skirt took the next day to sew too, and when I was done, I had to can some tomatoes first before they rotted….I got that done like 1:00 a.m. That was the first ball I had to pick up. Then I tidied up the house but didn’t get to the mopping. Hence literally mopping under feet when my family arrived for dinner…it was kinda embarrassing, but hey….it was worth it. Its a little birthday present!
The temple was so lovely, and it was a lot of fun going to the trampoline place with everyone. The dinner was great too, and we all had such fun gathering the day before at the airport to pick up Peter, the HANDSOME Shmandsome, and go to the Golden Coral together. Although I hereby would like to put in a plug for a new restaurant to try…Olive Garden or something? Riley and I came home with a leaden gut.
I loved canning tomatoes with my sister Elena, we had such a great time talking and then it was such a treat to have Peter come with me on my run the next morning! He ran me so fast that I was sore the next day.
